HuXueyan(1823-1885) was the famous merchant in China
business field in 19's.
His experience was full of legend:
At beginning he was only a counterjumper at a native bank, he always
want to make friend with official and rich guy,step by step his business
became larger and larger.
He was a kind merchant,he did gather and contribute rice to disaster
area; serve for government; import the foreign technician and equipment,
also when ZuoZhongTan(Big General in Qing Dynasty) went to western
expedition, he colleted the grain and equipment ,donate to Army ,
step by step he came to be richer and richer ,higher and higher, from
a counterjumper to be a big business man who worked in the government
at same time,but at last before he die he became a poor guy,why... |

Hu XueYan’s former house was built in 1872 when he’s
business came to peak. This large and luxury house cost 3 years work.
Gross area is 5815 square meters .
The total cost of house is more than 150 Tons of silver(USD 150 Million)
. In past time , in his period ,5 KG of silver is the salary of a
mayor per year. And the cost of this house is 30,000 times of a mayor’s
yearly salary .
2001,China government spent USD 100 million to repair it .
It was looked as the first house in the end of Qing dynasty . |
